How much for that City Hall in the window? We find out next week

April 17, 2009 - 4:32 pm

After six months of figuring, calculating, and recalculating, next week San Diego will get some semblance of just how much it will cost to build a new City Hall—or to renovate the old City Hall, or to just live with what we’ve got. The accounting firm Jones Lang LaSalle will issue a report that, using revised assumptions from a review by Ernst & Young, will look at the costs of seven different options for San Diego’s municipal headquarters projected out 10, 20, and 50 years into the future. Mayor Jerry Sanders, and many other city officials, have often said that any new City Hall would have to produce a cost savings for the city to be seriously considered.

CCDC will release the figures to the press and City Council on Wednesday, April 22, and there will be a public meeting on Thursday, April 23, at 6 p.m. at the headquarters for the Centre City Development Corporation. At the public meeting,  Jones Lang LaSalle staff and CCDC officials will be on hand to walk through the numbers with the public.
