San Diego Shows–Monday, June 8

PLAN A: The Lemonheads, Fluf–In CityBeat’s oral history of The Casbah published about six months ago, owner Tim Mays said that Evan Dando’s Lemonheads played one of the club’s most “epic” shows at its old location back in the early ’90s. However, that was before Dando had a major meltdown due to crack-cocaine abuse, becoming alt-rock’s greatest coulda-been in the process. Time has been kind to Dando’s tunes, though, and he’s been generally well-received since reinstating the Lemonheads moniker in 2006. Say what you will about the guy, but “If I Could Talk I’d Tell You” and “Into Your Arms” (not written by Dando, but still) are two of the catchiest songs to come out of the post-grunge boom. –Todd Kroviak PLAN B: Dead Confederate, Transfer @ Beauty Bar–If I don’t get into this show because a bunch of FM949-listening dickheads show up at 6 p.m. to wait in line for three hours only so they can hear “The Rat”  and then take off, I’m gonna be pissed.

Quick Picks (in order of non-dickheadedness):

Glasvegas @ On Broadway–The buzz on these Scottish rockers sure did die down quickly, yet I find myself still singing along to that song that goes, “Here we, here we, here we fuckin’ go!” You might need a NARM badge to get into this show, so call the venue in advance.

Brigitte Handley & The Dark Shadows, Hard Fall Hearts, The Watchmen, Kasket Krawlers @ Radio Room–A night of goth-punk at The Radio Room but BH & DS are pretty cool if you still hold a torch for bands like Babes in Toyland and The Distillers.

The Styletones @ Ruby Room

Lady Dottie and the Diamonds, DJ Jason Weedon @ U-31
