Rumor squelching: Lorena Gonzalez not running for City Council in 2010.

July 9, 2009 - 12:04 pm

I keep hearing this rumor that Lorena Gonzalez, Secretary-Treasurer and CEO of the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council, will be running for City Council District 2 against incumbent Kevin Faulconer. Well, she says she’s not. After seeing the rumor published on yet another blog, I decided to call Gonzalez to put the question to her. I got a call back from Evan McLaughlin, the Labor Council’s political director, who told me she’s not running.

“She plans to complete her term as Secretary-Treasurer,” McLaughlin said.

Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

It’s refreshing to hear Lorena is not running for city council again. Last time she ran, her platform was of an Enviromental attorney then proptly took a job with the labor coucil after losing to Kevin Faulkner. The hepocracy of her decsions will never allow me to vote for her again. I did a little research on Lorena Gonzalez and found a case in Los Angeles were she sued a mister Jeffery Hammonds for child support for their daughter for an ungodly amount of money and a house. How can she represent union members when she is living the good life from her child support. I will assume she is receiving a very nice paycheck as well. Just recently, I heard from my neighbor Lorena kicked her Police Officer husband out of the house and sueing him for his union pension. I recall talking with Lorenas husband when he came to my house and he just bragged about her and her positions. Why would she be fighting for union people while trying to take his pension, why is she fighting for, as she said, workig families while destroying hers. There is way to many questions about Lorena Gonzalez and it is clear she needs to be investigated more throughly.
