Drug Policy Alliance Network targeting Bonnie Dumanis

September 30, 2009 - 4:33 pm

In response to raids of 14 medical marijuana dispensaries earlier this month, the Drug Policy Alliance Network has launched a national campaign against San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis. An e-mail I got earlier today, with the subject line “He was in a wheelchair!” (referring to news footage showing a guy in a wheelchair being handcuffed) asks subscribers to DPAN’s mailing list to sign a petition asking that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown “rein in the district attorney who orchestrated these raids.” The e-mail alleges that Dumanis “has long defied California’s medical marijuana law” and suggests that the raids were a way to bolster her chances of re-election in 2010 (though, as yet, no one’s running against her).

As for the guy in the wheelchair, Paul Cody, Eric Wolff wrote about his arrest in CityBeat‘s Sept. 16 issue. And if you just can’t get enough pot articles, check out Justin McLachlan’s piece in this week’s issue that looks at three ballot measures seeking to legalize da’ herb (and includes a rather interesting take on the state flag by our art director, Adam “Ace” Vieyra).

Drug Police Alliance Network implies something a lot different than Drug Policy Alliance Network.

knowing people who work for DPA, and also having an inside track on the arrests from various involved parties, I find it hard to believe that DPA should even HAVE to spearhead this effort…..San Diegans should be out in full effect protesting her abuse of power.

E-mail me with any ideas you have about content, as I am building as time allows. Nobody commits more crime than Dumanis herself. Jerry Brown has her back, so she acts with impunity. With Jerry Brown leading the polls for governor, and no election opposition in site, I’m not holding my breath waiting for her highness to control herself. She so nuts, you wonder if she’s on meth or the little white diet pills. She only lost like 150 pounds in one year (between 2003 and 2004). She should share her amazing diet secret with the rest of us. Joe Ryan
