San Diego Shows–Saturday, Dec. 26

December 26, 2009 - 7:52 am

PLAN A: Nut/Crackers, Bro Zen, Omegum Flegum, Snuffaluffagus @ Che Café. This should at least be interesting to watch. Nut/Crackers is apparently a holiday project featuring members of experimental rockers Japandi and WITT. And if you dig early Animal Collective and solo Syd Barrett, check out Snuffaluffagus (above, also check out video below). Despite their name, I’m loving these guys more and more every day, and I expect big things for them in ’10. PLAN B: Scarlet Symphony, Fing, Lemon Sun, Da Bears @ The Casbah. You can skip L.A. blues-rockers Lemon Sun (unless of course you really heart Kings of Leon, in which case, please don’t ever talk to me), but the rest of the all-local lineup is solid. BACKUP PLAN: The Bertos, The Glossines, Tori Cobras @ Beauty Bar.

OTHER COOL STUFF:

Beatles: Art & Artifacts @ Edgeware Gallery. The Beatles had a big year. Their Rock Band video game was the biggest seller in the franchise’s history and their re-mastered studio albums were all but impossible to find in record stores. Some of San Diego’s best artists are just as obsessed, and Edgeware Gallery’s Beatles: Art & Artifacts is proof positive. From 5 to 9 p.m., artists like Courtney Kloss, Guy Lombardo, Tim Fisher and more than a dozen others will display Fab Four-influenced pieces in a number of mediums. Also on display will be original artifacts and memorabilia, and you can listen to and watch rare recordings and performances.

Richard Oh, Disc-O, Pablo Stanley @ U-31.

“Booty Bassment” @ Whistle Stop.

Team Abraham, The Royal Campaign @ Ruby Room.

Parker and The Numberman @ The Wit’s End.

The Yiffs @ Tin Can Ale House.

Sweetness @ Ken Club.
