San Diego Shows–Tuesday, March 9
PLAN A: Lights On, The So So Glos, Sunday Times @ The Casbah. Lights On are already on my shortlist for best new local band, but lively post-punks Sunday Times certainly got themselves back on my radar after a spirited performance a few weeks ago at Soda Bar. BACKUP PLAN: The Howls, Thee Vicars, Alpha Channel @ Tin Can Ale House. Thee Vicars look insane live (peep video below). You should definitely check these Brits out before they head to Austin to blow minds.
OTHER COOL STUFF:
Under the Great White Northern Lights @ Soda Bar. If you didn’t check it out last week at The Loft, here’s another screening of the Emmett Malloy-directed documentary on The White Stripes. Check out the trailer below. Actually looks really good.
Arusi: Persian Wedding @ 10th Avenue Theater. Filmmaker Marjan Tehrani takes her camera to Iran, where her brother Alex plans to get married just like their parents did three decades earlier. Donation suggested.
Stockholm Syndrome, These United States @ Belly Up.
Secret Fun Club, Lozen, Sugar Sugar Sugar, Fkenal @ Radio Room.
“Darkwave Garden” @ Club Kadan.
“Friends Chill” game night @ Whistle Stop.
