Photos from May 1 rally

May 2, 2010 - 3:12 pm

Following are several photos I shot at the May 1 immigrant-rights march and rally along Front Street, Downtown. Pretty powerful scene: the immigrant-rights group outnumbered their opponents at least 10-to-1 (probably more like 20-to-1). And, it was tough not to get a little emotional seeing all the young people who turned out—definitely a commentary on the future, given that the average age of the “We love Arizona” side was probably 60.

Artist Sheryl Oring (wearing orange in the photo below), has taken her political performance-art, I Wish to Say, all over the country (she’s currently based in San Diego). Yesterday, Oring set up old-school typewriters where she and her assistants hand-typed letters to be sent to President Obama.

Bon voyage, America…ye were once a powerhouse. Now you’re weak and tired. One of the youngest countries on Earth had a good run while it lasted. 😦 Guess I better learn Spanish…LMAO!

I think America should let Texas fight it out with the illegals and if the illegals win, we give them the fucked up states of California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona as door prizes for showing up.

I can’t wait to move back to Chicago where people still have a set of balls.

    Kelly, great pics!
And that dude in the throwback Padres shirt?
He must be the Padres’ pride and joy.
Not doing baseball any favors in my book. As if that were possible.

When an American breaks the law, he or she is arrested, tried, convicted and goes to jail. When an illegal immigrant breaks the law, he or she is welcome with open arms and paid for by hard working taxpayers. The REAL lawbreakers? Liberals with their heads up their asses.

“When an American breaks the law, he or she is arrested, tried, convicted and goes to jail. ”

Unless you’re Scooter Libby or Roger Hedgecock or….

“When an illegal immigrant breaks the law, he or she is welcome with open arms and paid for by hard working taxpayers.”

Yeah, that’s not exactly accurate…I mean, the presumption with the first claim is that they’re caught…which should be the same on the second claim.

Anyway, I’ve seen the inside of the prison camps where they put families (including small children) who come to the US to seek asylum. Not exactly open arms, but we certainly do pay for it.

I meant us small pissants of the “below poverty working class” but I see what you mean, Dave.

Of course…when Americans sneak into countries overseas, like say, North Korea, they get arrested, tried, sentenced to work camps until Bill Clinton comes and bails them out.

“…given that the average age of the “We love Arizona” side was probably 60…”

That cause the rest of us that love Arizona are working to support these fucking freeloaders!

Gotta love those signs in Spanish. That’ll go over big in Iowa, etc. – states that don’t realize the human tidal wave that’s coming.

Go Arizona! I think I’ll show my support by visiting that state this year. Hell, I bet the roads will be less crowded!
