PLAN A: Abe Vigoda, All Saints Day, Heavy Hawaii @ The Casbah. Not to be mistaken with the actor who played Sal Tessio in The Godfather, this L.A. quartet (right) has become famous for forging a style known as “tropical punk.” But there’s nothing tropical about their wailing guitars, which seem to have emerged from the deep sea. And don’t miss All Saints Day, which includes members of Vivian Girls and Cat Power. PLAN B: Playing for Change @ Belly Up. There’s a lame “Kumbaya” quality about international group Playing for Change, but rest assured that membership includes a number of great Afro-beat artists. BACKUP PLAN: Shining Through, Mothlight, Cousins, Meseta @ Che Café.

OTHER COOL STUFF:

DJ Eric Howarth @ Prohibition. The mo-hawked dude who runs Hi-Speed Soul Records and used to own M-Theory Music will spin vinyl at this speakeasy-style bar. Classy.

Lux @ Night @ Lux Art Institute. Stop in at Lux for wine, beer, live music by local act Writer and to see Berlin-based artist Sati Zech’s first-ever exhibition on the West Coast. Also, shop at their latest store installation, J & K Souvenir Inc. $5 suggested donation. 21 & over.

300 With Rifftrax @ Stone Brewing Co. The Artists Formerly Known as Mystery Science Theater 3000 provide running commentary to Gerard Butler’s abs. Free.
