San Diego Shows–Monday, July 5

July 5, 2010 - 6:00 am

PLAN A: Defiance, Ohio, Koalacaust, Jehovas Fitness @ Che Café. Defiance, Ohio is the kind of band that this UCSD activist hub was built for. Named for a working-class city in northwest Ohio, the Columbus outfit augments energetic, political punk-rock with organ, strings and upright bass—appealing to Democratic Socialists and anarcho-syndicalists alike. BACK- UP PLAN: Stubborn Tiny Lights, Woodworking, Nothingful, Andrew Weathers @ Soda Bar.

Demolition Derby @ San Diego County Fair. CityBeat‘s throwing down at the demolition derby this year, taking on rival news organizations. Our driver is Jordan of the local band Primitive Noyes, so it wouldn’t just be a victory for us, but for the local music scene as a whole. Starts at 1 p.m. Click here for more info.

“Freak for All” spoken word @ E Street Cafe.
