Day of Decision San Diego

August 6, 2010 - 11:07 am

On Aug. 4, justice Vaughn Walker overturned the voter-approved initiative, Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage, calling it unconstitutional. Gleeful gays and their supporters took to University Avenue in San Diego for a parade and rally.

But nobody’s running off to the courthouse to get their marriage licenses just yet. Judge Walker gave attorneys opposing Prop. 8 until today to file their written arguments as to whether he should grant a stay on his decision. If he denies the stay, there could still be some legal entanglements that would hold-up the ability for gays to get married, but nonetheless, the so-called “Day of Decision” was worth a public show of celebration.
