Bob Filner gets harassed by Popaditch supporters

November 3, 2010 - 8:54 am

Last night at Golden Hall, the most vocal and — at times — insane group of supporters were the ones holding big red, white and blue Nick Popaditch signs and chanting “Popaditch, Popaditch, Popaditch” over and over again.

When Congressman Bob Filner (D – CA) showed up, the mob of Popaditch supporters followed him around, often cornering him and screaming and yelling right into his face. He was reportedly even shoved a few times. You can see the fear in both his and his handler’s faces in the video above.

“Don’t tread on me!” was the most-common angry shout.

Filner defeated Popaditch in the election, which is probably all the retribution he wants.

The best retribution: Filner now represents them.

Word on the street is… Filner will be running for SD Mayor, stepping down before Juan Vargas chases him out of office in another tough challenge race for Congress. Also: Loosing a chairmanship and life in the minority is not so tempting, esp after 20 years in DC.

Look for Filner to be the first Dem to throw his hat in the Mayor’s campaign, and for Vargas to make the move he’s long wanted: to US House of Reps.

Perhaps best of all is seeing Dave Rolland standing in the middle of it.
