WaPo: Schumer ousts Issa as ‘Obama’s chief antagonist’

December 9, 2010 - 10:16 pm

Issa ousted, sorta.

On June 4, 2010, the Washington Post‘s “Post Politics” blog declared in a headline:

California Rep. Darrell Issa takes on role as Obama’s chief antagonist

The story was about how Issa, as the ranking Republican on the House Oversight Committee, has dogged the White House with call after call after call for investigation.

Today, “Post Politics” writes:

President Obama is getting along better than ever with Capitol Hill Republicans. But his relationship with Democratic Sen. Charles E. Schumer has hit a rough patch.

The newly appointed Senate Democratic “message” guru has emerged as the White House’s chief antagonist over the tax cut deal Obama worked out with GOP leaders.

Damn, Darrell. You might have just won a committee chairmanship, but you were totally ousted as mayor of Haterville.
